Is sailing dangerous?
Sailing is an adventurous sport. There are risks involved. However, we can take steps to minimize risk making the sport more enjoyable and less dangerous. We recommend:
- always wearing a life jacket or personal flotation device that is approved by the Department of Transport Canada. On our courses we ask you to bring your own or we can provide these for loan to every course member;
- taking instruction from a qualified and experienced Sail Canada sailing instructor. All of our instructors are qualified and have a minimum level of experience;
We do still ask that every individual who takes a course with Sailing Fanatics signs a waiver. This waiver goes through all of the details so that you know what to expect. If after reading the waiver you don't want to go sailing anymore that's ok. However, that almost never happens!
